IKO Shingle Repair: The Woodland Hills Owner’s Guide

IKO shingle repair in Woodland Hills typically runs $350 – $850 installed for a standard repair of 10 – 20 shingles, including materials, labor, and a written one-year warranty. We stock IKO-compatible shingles on our trucks and can usually complete the repair the same day we arrive. Most homeowners discover the problem after a Santa Ana wind event, when they find granule-covered shingle fragments in their yard or gutters, or after a heavy winter rain reveals a ceiling stain in an upstairs bedroom.

Call (650) 456-5615

Before you call, walk the perimeter of your home. Look up at the roof from ground level. Missing shingles are obvious, but cracked or lifted shingles are the ones that leak slowly and cause the real damage. If you see a shingle hanging out of place, curling at the corner, or lying in your yard, that’s a call to make today, not next month. The longer a broken shingle sits, the more water gets under the roof deck, and the repair bill climbs past simple shingle replacement into sheathing and insulation work.

We’re an independent roofing contractor. We are not affiliated with IKO, and we don’t pretend to be. What we are is honest about matching their shingles and fixing the roof so it holds up in Woodland Hills weather. Every repair, every quote, every warranty goes in writing.

Which IKO Models This Applies To

IKO makes several shingle lines, and the repair approach changes depending on which one is on your roof. The most common lines we see in Woodland Hills are:

  • Cambridge – IKO’s architectural laminate. This is the workhorse of their lineup and shows up on most San Fernando Valley homes built or re-roofed in the last 15 years. Cambridge shingles have a distinctive double-layer construction and a wider exposure than three-tab.
  • Dynasty – a heavier architectural shingle with a larger exposure and more dimensional profile. Dynasty repairs cost slightly more because of the material weight and the care needed to match the profile.
  • Marathon – IKO’s premium architectural line, often with a Class 4 impact rating. If your roof has Marathon shingles, the color match and profile alignment matter even more because of the deeper shadow line.
  • Royal Estate and Crowne Slate – high-end dimensional shingles that we see less often but do repair. These require special ordering if we don’t have the color in stock.

To identify what you have, check for a leftover bundle in the garage or attic. The bundle wrapper has the model name and color code printed on it. No wrapper? Look at the shingle profile: three-tab shingles are flat with two cutouts, architectural shingles are thicker with a laminated, dimensional look. If you are unsure, text us a photo from the ground and we’ll tell you what you have before we ever schedule anything.

One compatibility gotcha that catches homeowners: IKO changed the Cambridge color palette in the mid-2010s, so a “weatherwood” shingle bought in 2024 is not an exact color match to one installed in 2012. We carry multiple shades of common IKO colors on our trucks, but if your roof is older, we may need to order the closest current match and blend it. We’ll tell you this before we start, not after.

For the material decision: we install genuine IKO shingles wherever the roof is still under IKO’s limited warranty, because using an aftermarket shingle can void it. For older roofs out of warranty, we will offer a quality aftermarket equivalent if it saves you money and matches well. We never make that call for you; we lay out the price difference and let you choose.

Signs Your IKO Shingle Repair Is Failing

  • Granules collecting in gutters or at downspout outlets. This means the shingle’s UV-protective surface is wearing away. On IKO Cambridge and Dynasty roofs in Woodland Hills, we see accelerated granule loss on west-facing and south-facing slopes that take full afternoon sun. The shingle is losing its weather barrier, and the underlying asphalt is next.
  • Shingles curling at the corners or edges. Curling means the shingle is drying out and losing its bond. It happens faster on roofs with poor attic ventilation, which is common in 1970s and 1980s Woodland Hills tract homes with limited ridge venting. Curled shingles catch wind, which peels them off during Santa Ana events.
  • Missing shingles after a windstorm. The most obvious symptom. You’ll find the shingle in your yard, on a neighbor’s property, or wedged in a gutter. A missing shingle exposes raw roofing felt or, worse, bare plywood. In Woodland Hills wind season, which runs October through February, one missing shingle can become six in a week.
  • Cracked or split shingles, especially on ridges and hips. Ridge cap shingles take the most stress because they sit at the highest flex points of the roof. They’re also where most amateur repairs fail first. Cracks there let water run directly along the framing line and into the attic.
  • Water stains on ceilings or walls, usually in an upper-floor room. By the time you see interior staining, water has already worked through the shingle, the underlayment, and the deck. This is no longer a simple shingle repair – it’s a repair plus possible deck replacement. If you see this, call us at (650) 456-5615 that day.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

For a standard IKO shingle repair on an accessible single-story roof in Woodland Hills, expect to pay between $350 and $850. Here’s what that range covers in our market:

  • Small repair (1 – 5 shingles, no deck damage): $350 – $450. We’re on site for an hour or two, the fix is clean, and we document it before and after with photos.
  • Mid-size repair (6 – 20 shingles, possible underlayment patch): $450 – $650. This is the most common job we do after Santa Ana wind season.
  • Larger repair (20+ shingles, ridge cap replacement, or two-story access): $650 – $850. Two-story roofs cost more because of ladder setup, safety protocols, and the extra time moving materials.

The biggest variables are roof pitch, accessibility, and whether any decking needs replacement. We will never quote you one number and bill another. Our written estimate lists the shingle count, the material cost, the labor, and the disposal fee as separate line items. If we open the roof and find rotted decking, we stop, take a photo, send it to you, and get your approval before any additional work happens. That’s The Relay Standard, and it’s how we run every job in Woodland Hills.

Every IKO shingle repair we complete is covered by our 365-Day Done Right Promise. If that repair fails within a year, we come back and fix it at no charge. That’s in writing on your invoice, not in a marketing brochure.

DIY or Call Us?

You can safely inspect your roof from the ground with a pair of binoculars. Look for missing, cracked, or lifted shingles. Check gutters for granules. That information helps you decide who to call.

Climbing on the roof, especially a steep two-story Woodland Hills roof with clay tile or a Spanish-style pitch, is a different matter. Shingle replacement looks simple on a YouTube video, but on a real roof you’re dealing with fall risk, brittle existing shingles that crack when you kneel on them, and the real possibility of tearing the underlayment and creating a leak that did not exist before. Roofing is dangerous work. We’ve been doing it for more than two decades, and we still treat every roof with respect. If you have any hesitation about working at height, don’t do it yourself. Call (650) 456-5615 and get a free estimate. You’ll pay the same price for a repair that holds as you would for materials and a Saturday on the roof that might not.

Every promise we make goes in writing – because a handshake doesn’t keep the rain out.
