Tamko Roof Installation in Woodland Hills: What to Know First
We install Tamko roofing systems throughout Woodland Hills, and most full installations run three to five working days from tear-off to final inspection. As an independent Tamko service provider, we carry the brand’s best-known lines, including Heritage, Titan XT, and the ProLine series, and we give you a written price before any work starts. The number on that estimate is the number on your invoice. Call us at (650) 456-5615 to schedule a free roof assessment, and we’ll tell you exactly what your Tamko installation will cost and how long it will take.
This page is for Woodland Hills homeowners who already have Tamko shingles, are considering them for a new roof, or inherited a Tamko roof when they bought their home. If that’s you, keep reading. We’ll cover what Tamko does well, where their products tend to struggle in our climate, and what a proper installation should include.
How Tamko Products Fail – and How We Fix Them
Tamko makes solid roofing materials, but every shingle line has its patterns. Here’s what we see on Woodland Hills roofs, and what we do about it.
- Heritage shingle delamination in high-heat exposure. Heritage is Tamko’s best-known architectural shingle line, and it holds up decently most of the time. But on south-facing Woodland Hills slopes that bake under direct sun from June through October, we sometimes see the top lamination layer start to peel or curl at the corners. The adhesive bond, not the shingle itself, is usually what gives out first. We strip and replace the affected sections, checking the underlayment beneath while we’re in there.
- Titan XT granule loss on older roofs. Titan XT is Tamko’s impact-resistant line, and it’s genuinely tougher against hail than the Heritage series. That said, we’ve seen granule shedding start on Titan roofs around the 10-year mark in Woodland Hills, particularly on ridges and hips where wind constantly works the shingle edges. Granules are the shingle’s UV shield. Once they go, the asphalt underneath degrades fast. We inspect the granule condition during every installation and will tell you plainly if a partial or full replacement makes more sense than patching.
- ProLine and the “builder-grade” trap. ProLine is Tamko’s economy 3-tab line, and plenty of Woodland Hills tract homes built in the early 2000s still have them. These shingles are thinner than architectural lines and start showing cracks around year 15, often around nail heads. If your roof still has original ProLine shingles, you’re probably at the point where a full installation is cheaper than chasing leaks. We’ll show you photos of what we find so you’re not taking our word for it.
- Valley and flashing failures from original installs. This one isn’t Tamko’s fault, but we see it constantly. A lot of Woodland Hills roofs were installed before anyone was using ice-and-water shield in the valleys, and the result is leaks at the valley centerline when heavy rain hits. During any Tamko installation, we replace valley flashing and install a full-width underlayment barrier. It costs a little more up front and saves thousands down the line.
- Nail placement errors you inherited. Tamko, like most manufacturers, requires nails placed in a specific zone on the shingle. Get it wrong and the shingle doesn’t hold in wind, and the nail can back out over time. When we tear off an old Tamko roof, we can usually tell whether the last installer knew what they were doing. If you’ve had shingles blow loose in typical Woodland Hills Santa Ana winds, bad nailing is the likely culprit. Our installs follow the manufacturer’s nailing schedule exactly, because a warranty claim is only good if the installation was done right.

Our Tamko Roof Installation Process
Every Tamko installation we run in Woodland Hills follows the same sequence. Here’s how it goes, from first call to the final walkaround.
- 1
Roof assessment and written estimate. We come out, walk the roof, inspect the decking and existing underlayment, and measure. You get a written line-item price, not a verbal ballpark.
- 2
Material selection and ordering. We’ll recommend the right Tamko line for your home’s slope, sun exposure, and architectural style. Heritage for most homes, Titan XT if you want impact resistance, and we’ll show the price difference for each before you commit.
- 3
Tear-off and deck inspection. The old roof comes off and we inspect the plywood or OSB beneath. Rotted sections get replaced before the new roof goes on. You’ll get photos of anything we find.
- 4
Underlayment, flashing, and shingle installation. New drip edge, valley flashing, pipe boots, and underlayment go in first. Then the Tamko shingles, installed to the manufacturer’s nail specification, with starter shingles along the eaves.
- 5
Ridge caps and ventilation check. Ridge cap shingles finish the peaks, and we verify that your attic ventilation is adequate. Improper ventilation shortens the life of any shingle brand, Tamko included.
- 6
Final inspection, photos, and digital invoice. We walk the roof with you, show before-and-after photos, and send the final invoice by text. It matches the estimate, because that’s the whole point.

AfterWhat Tamko Roof Installation Costs in Woodland Hills
Roof installation prices in Woodland Hills depend on roof size, pitch, the Tamko line you choose, and how much decking repair is needed. Here are the ranges we typically see for a standard single-family home in this area.
- Tamko Heritage architectural shingles: $8,500 to $14,000 for a typical 1,500 to 2,200 square foot home
- Tamko Titan XT impact-resistant shingles: $11,000 to $17,500 for the same footprint, depending on pitch and tear-off complexity
- Full replacement including decking repair: add $800 to $2,400 depending on how much sheathing needs replacing
- Tile-to-shingle conversion with Tamko Heritage: $12,000 to $19,000, since tile tear-off adds labor and disposal cost
Steep roofs, two-story homes, and skylight or chimney work all push the number up. The estimate we give you covers everything, including permit fees and disposal. No change orders, no “we found something extra” phone calls. Call (650) 456-5615 for a free estimate and we’ll put your exact price in writing.

FAQs
A full Tamko roof installation in Woodland Hills typically runs between $8,500 and $19,000 depending on the shingle line, roof size, and whether you’re converting from tile. Call (650) 456-5615 for a free assessment and a written estimate for your specific roof. Estimates are always free, and the price you’re quoted is the price you’ll pay.
Yes. Tamko’s warranty coverage assumes installation by a professional contractor following the manufacturer’s published installation instructions. Incorrect nailing, missing underlayment, or improper flashing can void coverage entirely. If you’re considering Tamko, have a qualified crew install it. That’s a big part of why we exist.
Most Tamko roof installations in Woodland Hills take three to five working days from tear-off to final cleanup. Larger homes, steep slopes, or significant decking repair can extend the timeline to seven days. You’ll know the schedule before we start.
It depends on the age and condition of the roof. If the shingles are still flexible, the granules are intact, and the leaks are localized to flashing or valleys, a repair is often the right call. If the shingles are cracked, buckling, or shedding granules across multiple slopes, replacement usually costs less long-term than repeated repairs. We’ll show you photos and give you an honest recommendation either way.
Yes. Every full roof installation we do includes the necessary permits and passes inspection. When you work with us, permit fees are already in your written estimate. There’s no separate charge that shows up later. Call (650) 456-5615 to get started.
